No, If your puppy is well socialised then they are free to run around and play before and after their groom. They have fresh water available and are supervised during their visit at all times.
It depends on the breed of dog, type of coat and how long you’d like to keep the coat. Generally 4 to 6 weeks is ideal for maintaining the coat. This is also ideal for short coated breeds to keep on top of shedding. The idea is to ‘maintain’ the coat, not wait until it is overgrown, matted and uncomfortable for the dog. Pre-booking your dog’s next appointment is strongly recommended to avoid having to wait for an available appointment when the dog needs it ‘now’!
As soon as your puppy is vaccinated, you should have it professionally groomed – usually within the first three months of it’s life.
Puppies should be groomed once a month for the first few months. This will allow shorter, less involved grooming sessions and gradually allow your pup to become accustomed to grooming learning it is an enjoyable experience instead of a traumatic one. Exposing your puppy as early as possible to experiences it is going to have for it’s entire life is extremely important, so that grooming is a pleasant experience for the dog, groomer and owner.
Depending on the coat conditions and the temperament of your dog during their groom, it could be 1 to 3 hours, we always send a text message as soon as your dog is ready to be collected.
Short answer is NO! We try not to muzzle any dogs during their service with Fur Us. We work with encouragement and other groomers to assist. We believe putting a muzzle on a dog will create more stress, and are less likely to trust us.
However for the safety of my staff, if a dog is too aggressive we would not proceed with the groom, and to also no longer put more stress on your dog
Absolutely not. We do not use any form of sedation, as we are not a veterinary clinic. If your dog requires sedation you must speak to your vet.
All our products are natural, and cover all skin conditions. Fur Us does not use any commercial shampoo or conditioner, so your pup will always be treated with care.
We always take the utmost care when bathing to reduce the stress of your dog. They are not forced or shoved in the bath, they are always encouraged and treated gently. For puppies who struggle with the noise of the dryer, we provide with happy hoodies to reduce their stress.
